Two days after..

The last two days have been tragic for our country.  I was so upset yesterday that I found it hard to function.  I shed many tears while watching the news coverage on television.  The little boy who died, standing there frozen in time in a picture holding the sign for peace with a beatific smile on his face.  Well, it just broke my heart.  Imagine the terrible pain his father is feeling with his mother critically injured and his sister losing a leg.  So many acts of bravery I can’t count them all.  Then to read my friend Paul’s last blog about the 3rd victim was so upsetting.  http://jumpingoutthewindows.blogspot.com/2013/04/the-tragedy-hits-close-to-home.html

The one bright shining light from this tragedy is showing our country and the whole word that we are united and will always stand together in the face of adversity!

My prayer for all of you today and always, Stay safe and be happy!

Beth

  2. It is especially hard to see children's lives snuffed out so early. They say the hardest thing for a parent besides losing a spouse is losing a child. I hope I never have to know that feeling. Stay positive in this face of adversity.

  4. I think that pain and sorrow always shows us the good side of things as weird as that is. Maybe a reminder to us that life is good in spite of pain. I too am so sad about Boston and remembering Newtown. sandie

  7. My friend Carol and I were talking about the tragedies that have taken place during our adult lives. She mentioned that she went to the memorial in Oklahoma City and was quite affected by it. I realized I had completely forgotten about that bombing. We have so many tragedies that I can't keep track of them, but, yes, I am grateful for all the brave people who step up to help.

    Love,
    Janie

  8. I figure if things are found to be a domestic terror situation the old divisions that are so obvious will raise their ugly head again. It's especially hard for me thinking of my own children...my little girl is only a year younger then that little boy...it's very, very sobering. The up and down of the media today on whether or not they arrested a suspect are driving me up the wall...ugh.

  10. Hi Beth,

I am a bit lost for words. So senseless so hard to understand. Acts of terror have come too close in my country and my family life. Thinking of you and all America at this time and also remembering all of us are in the danger zone and it is a sombering thought.

    Hugs Nita

  12. Beth I'm doing ok but I admit I shift between extreme sadsness to anger. A few customers at work were upset but most carried on with business as usual. My store is only 2 or 3 miles from the scene. You can see the 52 story Prudential Building from the parking lot my store. I have been there many times. I worked at a store that my company has at the Prudential center and the finish line is maybe a couple of hundred yards up Boylston St from the front of the store. You got to meet people from all over the country and the world. It was a crazy fun time during the marathon. If you had an early shift you weren't going home for a while so you stayed and enjoyed the craziness.

I'll be ok. Arlene is much closer to the situation having daughters who went to school with Kristen Campbel. She knows the family. She graduated from the same high school as I did.
Arlene is doing ok as well though she watched this young woman grow up and has a more personal connection to the situation.

I wrote a post late last night/early in the morning because I couldn't sleep. I have to reread it before I post it.
My thanks to you Beth and the folks who visited my blog because of you. Boston will rebound. We're a tough town. Just ask the British.

  15. I couldn't agree more Beth. It's very sad and upsetting. I does restore a little faith in the human race to see so many who aided the injured with no fear of their own safety. I pray for them all. God Bless them.
