Christmas past…

I was so engrossed in a movie on Christmas Eve that I didn’t realize for a while that I was beginning to get cold.  My furnace had gone out so naturally I panicked since it was in the teens outside.  I called the office and of course after hours I got the answering service.  It wasn’t long though before someone was over here.  He said  the pilot light was out.  He lit it and was on his merry way.  I set the furnace on 70 and went to bed a little after 11 PM.  I woke up at 2 AM freezing.  I called again and this time the guy brought me two radiator type space heaters.  They warmed the heat up to about 67 degrees.  I was actually called yesterday morning (Christmas) to see how I was doing.  I said I was still cold so they brought me over another heater with a promise to be here this morning to work on the furnace.

I was not too awfully thrilled at the thought of having someone here in the house messing with the furnace the day after Christmas.  And wouldn’t you know that I had washed the rugs, run the sweeper and mopped on Christmas Eve.  It is always nice to have clean rugs for a repairman to wipe his feet on.  lol  Now if this is the worst thing that ever happens to me that would be  great.  So I am smiling in anticipation of everything getting back to normal.

Christmas supper was very nice spent at my SIL’s brother’s home.  They have 2 of the cutest grandchildren.  It was fun watching them and of course I ate and ate again.

Tomorrow is the doctor visit.  I hope the weather stays decent so I can drive myself.

Are we all on a diet today?  Or do we wait until New Year’s Day?  New Year’s day for me as I still have leftovers from Saturday.

Stay safe and be happy!!

Beth

  5. Merry Christmas Beth! Sounds like you had a lovely day other than your furnace troubles. I ate so much the last three days that I'm not sure I can eat much today. Looks like my diet may be starting now.

  8. Three years ago Christmas, our furnace went out; the house was so cold. It just figures that your floors are clean for the repairman to mess up!
Praying all goes well at your dr. appt.

  10. I'm sorry to read you experienced trouble with your furnace. At least they were nice enough to provide some temporary relief by way of space heaters.

I remember some Christmas' where we didn't have any electricity. My father broke out the camping stoves and cooked what he could outdoors in the cold and snow.

Belated Christmas greetings! May you source of heat never leave you feeling cold ever again.

  12. Oh hun I'm so sorry about the heat that is such a pain! I hope it is fixed soon and the heaters give you heat until then.

Well I've been on this diet for 8 months now, so Christmas was hard but I stayed away from goodies but that is until I get to my goal weight and then I will be able to have a treat now and then :)

  13. Hope your heat is all fixed by now. What a caring repairman you had. They all should be so nice.
No dieting for me - I always stay just within a couple of pounds. Small portions and walking keeps me there. : )

  15. Hope you got your heat fixed. What bad timing. But looks like you have been getting pretty good service trying to take care of you during the holiday. How wonderful all the time spent with family over the holidays. Hubby and I have had a quiet time alone. Been over a week since I have been in town and won't be in for another 5 days. I really feel like I have had some hibernation time. But now the packing will start and getting organized to close the house down as we head south middle of January. We haven't had too much snow so far and temps haven't been too cold. We have only about 8 inches of snow now. So hubby and I have had so much extra time to do other things besides shoveling and keeping the driveway cleared. Hope you only get results from your doctor visit. Wishing you a healthy happy New Year. Hugs Carrie

  16. Hey Beth! Although you did have some inconveniences with the heat, it sounds like you were genuinely cared about! That's always a good thing! :)
I hope your weather doesn't get bad, either. We didn't even get flurries, which is all I really wanted to see anyway. Oh well, winter just began.
Diet? Did I read the word Diet?? No way....not til after New Year's Day....and then there's my birthday right away....and then.....!!

  20. Oh nooo - what a terrible Christmas present. No heat! I can remember that happening to us one year in the winter. No fun at all. At least they brought over space heaters rather than letting you suffer. Happy your Christmas on a whole was good anyway.
